In my session break, my family and I went
on a trip which was nestled between clouds
and snow on the mountains. The place
was Ukhimath.
The trip was of four days: first day in Rishikesh,
second and third day in Ukhimath and the
last again in Rishikesh. I was over the moon
when I first heard of this trip and co-
uldn't wait to get started. Then the day
finally came and we (my family and I) went to
Rishikesh and spent the whole day there.
The next morning, around 7:30 we left
for Ukhimath. The journey was long and
very boring. It would take us 5 or 6 hours
to reach there that too with minimal
breaks and stops. But at last we reached
Ukhimath.
As soon as we entered Ukhimath, we were
welcomed with green meadows, pink and
white flowers and waterfalls at each
turn. My sister and I were on cloud 9. We
were staying at a GMVN (Garwhal Mandal
Vikas Nigam). We ate lunch and slept with
full stomachs. In the evening my family
and I went for a walk to a nearby temp-
le place where Lord Shiva stays during the
winter. We offered offerings and went back
to the GMVN. We ate dinner, sat outside in
the lawn for a while and went to our
room and slept.
The next day we woke up early and ate
breakfast. After that, my family and I went to Sari, a village. We were going there
because there was a famous trek,
Deoriatal. We started the trek and within
an hour or two we reached the top.
There was a big pond and behind
it there were huge mountains covered
with snow. We sat there for a while, to
take in the beauty of nature and star-
-d the descend back. Once we were
finished, we had lunch in a nearby
restaurant and went back to Ukhimath. I
was exhausted and slept rightaway. In
the evening, my mother and I did bird
watching and discovered many
unique birds like the himalyan bulbul and
the streaked laughing thrush.
We ate dinner and slept in our cozy
beds. In the morning we left for Rishikesh.
This journey taught me alot about the
Uttarakhand culture and beauty.
